BIRD FEEDER

Bird feeders - More than just a garden decoration

What would a garden be without the lively activity of birds and their chirping, which makes you wake up in summer? Or the joy on dull and cold winter days when we can watch the funny animals at the feeding place. After all, where can living nature - even in the middle of the city - be experienced so well? However, feeding birds is not only an experience of nature, but also an invitation to observe and to learn about species variety. The natural cycle of the seasons demands a lot of energy from birds, and their habitats and food supply have also changed considerably. With suitable feeding places and the choice of the right bird food, you can support many bird species. A design bird house from uccellino is therefore much more than just decoration for the garden and terrace.

Feeding birds all year round

Every year, many bird species are threatened with extinction, almost entirely due to humans. Throughout Europe, the number of birds is steadily shrinking, especially common species such as sparrows, starlings, larks and partridges. The main reason for this is modern-day agriculture and dense settlement, which disturbs and drives away these fascinating animals in their natural habitat and deprives them of their food source. Birdhouses or a feeding station counteract the increased bird mortality by offering birds a place to rest. Ornithologists thus advise feeding more birds all year round - and not exclusively in winter.

The right bird food

Numerous varieties of bird food are offered to you for sale and not every one of them is suitable for every type of bird house. Our Casa uccellino bird feeder is suitable for songbirds and should therefore be filled with a different type of food than the round Casa uccello bird feeder, which can also be used to watch woodpeckers or jays during the winter months. Especially at temperatures below zero, birds are happy to have an extra supply of energy. Many shops offer ready-made feed mixtures, but you can also easily make your own bird food. For example, try your own mixture of seeds, oat flakes, sunflower seeds and chopped peanuts. You can find an example recipe and more tips on feeding birds on NABU.

The right location for the bird house

To ensure that your bird feeder is visited regularly, the choice of location should be well thought out. Birds feel most at home among bushes and trees. Experts recommend placing or hanging the bird house at a cat-proof height of about two meters. Make sure that no tree trunk is within reach, as cats and martens often use these as ladders.

Variety of bird feeders

Just as a variety of species of birds exists, a bird feeder can be designed in a variety of ways. Our designer birdhouses are either designed with a stainless steel wire rope suspension or with a pole to stand on. Our products are made of oak wood and offer a robust material in combination with stainless steel, which allows you to place the bird feeders outside all year round without hesitation. Find your suitable bird feeder with us to attract all kinds of bird calls to your garden.
